How many bags of concrete are in a yard?
One cubic yard of concrete takes about 45 bags of 80 lb mix, 60 bags of 60 lb, or 90 bags of 40 lb.
A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet. Divide by the yield printed on the bag and round up.

Bags or ready-mix?
45 bags of 80 lb is 1.8 tons to lift, mix and pour by hand, which is a long day even with help. Above about a cubic yard, ordering ready-mix is usually cheaper per yard and far less work, if a truck can reach the site. Many suppliers deliver short loads for small jobs.
Add 5 to 10% for spillage and uneven ground; the calculator includes that.
