How much paint do I need for a ceiling?
A 12 x 12 ft ceiling is 144 square feet: about 2 quarts for one coat or 1 gallon for two, at 350 square feet per gallon.
A flat ceiling’s area is simply the room’s length times width. The table uses 350 sq ft per gallon; textured (popcorn or knockdown) ceilings soak up more, so allow 250 to 300.

Tips
- Flat ceiling paint hides roller marks and small flaws better than eggshell or satin.
- A new or stained ceiling usually needs primer first; one coat of paint is often enough for a refresh of the same color.
