How many tiles per square foot?
One 12 x 12 inch tile covers one square foot. Smaller tiles need more: 4 per square foot for 6 x 6, 8 for 3 x 6 subway. Larger ones need fewer: half a 12 x 24 tile per square foot.
Tiles per square foot is 144 divided by the tile’s width times its length, in inches. Grout lines are ignored; they barely change the count.
